Genicap and the Simon Stevin Institute For Geometry are connected closely by means of the researcher Johan Gielis who holds a degree in industrial engineering with an unusual combination of specializations in plantbiotechnology and mathematics. Mr. Gielis did a significant scientific discovery in 1997 that has since been introduced as the "Superformula" in various scientific publications. The "Superformula", is a single equation which uses only a few variables to create a direct geometrical description and relation between circles and squares, flowers and snowflakes, molecules and spacetimes, sound and vision, anything and everything. Genicap is a corporation that consists of several divisions that do research into practical applications for the Superformula. Among others there is "The Simon Stevin Institute For Geometry" that further investigates the relationships between mathematics and natural forms.

StormHand (Albert Kiefer & Boy Bastiaens) took care of the Genicap website that visually explains the possibilities of the Superformula, and the further development of these ideas in geometry, science and technology in close collaboration with Genicaplab and the Simon Stevin Institute for Geometry.

A crucial role within the website design was reserved for the Genicap corporate logo family which was previously designed by StormHand representing, an amorphous form based upon the letter G. A graphic symbol that had to make the name of the corporation more memorable, as it is the true essence of all logo designs.

Contrary to the past, where a logo needed only to be applicable both black & white and in color to translate well through all modes of communication. The designers took the graphic device a few steps further, using the logo as a tool for navigating through the Genicap website. While visualizing the founding of the Simon Stevin Institute For Geometry at the GenicapSpaces section through a variety of imagery of the logo's framework construction as a metaphore.

Very delighted with the idea Genicap approached Dutch architect, and former Chief Government Architect Jo Coenen in 2007. This with the aim of researching the feasibility of creating an architectural structure in the shape of the logo for possible future application, pending negotiations on this newly defined scope for the Genicap logo.

Another dimensional application of the logo was used on a smaller physical scale, yet with also a very prestigious purpose. In July 2008 the logo award was presented to Professor Bang-Yen Chen on the occasion of the first Simon Stevin Institute of Geomtry prize, during RIGA 2008, an international meeting on Riemannian Geometry and Applications, organized in Brasov, Romania. The logo award was personally given to Prof. Chen by Johan Gielis.
